AFI Lists Top Ten Movies of 2012

Yes, for those of you who put stock in the opinion of the American Film Institute (don't worry, I tend to agree with them, myself), you now know what films you should probably check out before the year's up. Is The Dark Knight Rises on the list? Django Unchained? Yes to both of those. But read on for the other eight!

Here's the list:

AFI MOVIES OF THE YEAR
Argo
Beasts of the Southern Wild

The Dark Knight Rises
Django Unchained
Les Miserables
Life of Pi
Lincoln
Moonrise Kingdom
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty

For those of you paying attention, you'll notice a fair amount of these are recent releases (three of them aren't even actually out yet). An interesting fact. Not sure what it means, but interesting. For my part, I totally agree that the movies I've seen on this list are, in fact, "rad-tacular."

Oh, AFI also released their list of top 10 TV shows. Here's that, for the curious:

AFI TV PROGRAMS OF THE YEAR
American Horror Story
Breaking Bad
Game Change
Game of Thrones
Girls
Homeland
Louie
Mad Men
Modern Family
The Walking Dead

Man, it's been a good year for Film and TV.
