'Avatar 2' Another Four Years Off, Says Producer

Considering Avatar's status as the first film to gross more than $2 billion, most people expected a pretty fast turn-around on the sequel, with the studio eager to cash in on a sure thing. It looks like James Cameron will be taking as much time as he likes however, as he works on new tech to make sure Avatar 2 is just as cutting edge as the first.

Bleeding Cool talked to producer Jon Landau who told them that the Avatar sequel is still four years away. Most people projected the film to arrive in 2013, maybe 2014 at the latest. If what Landau says is true, we won't be seeing another Avatar for a very long time.

I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. After all, Cameron took twelve years between Titanic and Avatar working on other projects and getting the technology ready for his sci-fi dream project. We can only hope that the extra time will be worth it. And considering it's Cameron, if nothing else, I'm sure the visuals will be something special.
