As you may know by now, Avengers 2 will begin production in early 2014. So what should you expect from the man behind this already highly anticipated sequel? Well according to Joss Whedon, we can expect "awful" things for our team of superheroes.
After hearing Whedon say, "I didn't think I was gonna do the second one, but I had an idea for it before I had figured out the first one;" and, "Well if they were to come back, I know what’s going to happen… it’s going to be awful,” one can only imagine the kinds of trials and losses our friends in the Avengers will have to face the next time they team up.
What we do know for sure is that Whedon has shown before that he is more than capable of hitting you right in the feels (*sobs quietly in the corner at Wash's death*). Because of this "awful" statement, I am reminded of something he said in the 10th Anniversary of Firefly, and that was the entire cast was all expendable, stating that the show was not called the "Captain Mal Show" or the "Jayne Show.” It was Firefly and anything could happen to the characters.
With that being said, and the fact that the movie will be called the Avengers 2 and not Iron Man and the Avengers or Captain America and His Band of Misfits, we can venture to say that not only is Joss capable of making our heroes' lives “awful,” but he is also more than willing.
