A Warner Bros. producer has revealed via Twitter some interesting plot details of the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel featuring Batman. His tweet states that Batman will use drones and that he will not be on speaking terms with Robin.
In the past few weeks we have been bombarded with rumors about Batman vs Superman suggesting the inclusion of Robin (or more accurately Nightwing) and hints at a possible story arc which will eventually include the rest of the Justice League. But that's all they've been...rumors.
A few days ago producer Daniel Alter (Hitman, Kane & Lynch) sent the above tweet out which not only confirms Robin's character but also goes a tad farther, revealing that Batman will control drones from the batcave.
While we all knew that Ben Affleck would portray a slightly older version of the iconic Gotham hero, the tweet reveals that Bats will be "semi-retired" and the way it's worded would suggest that his semi-retirement has something to do with him not speaking to Robin anymore or vice versa.
David S. Goyer and Zack Snyder have mentioned Frank Miller's now legendary 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns as an inspiration behind their version of Bruce Wayne/Batman, but Snyder has also stated that it will not be a straight adaptation. So it's likely we wont get any mention of the "Mutants."
The word "drones" might lead us to believe that Snyder and Goyer may actually be drawing more of an inspiration for the story from Kingdom Come, written by Mark Waid & Alex Ross ten years after TDKR.
Kingdom Come also features Wonder Woman, The Flash, Dick Grayson, Green Lantern and Lex Luthor. The basic plot includes Batman refusing to join forces with Superman.
Batman vs Superman or Man Of Steel 2 or whatever you want to call it is due for release July 2015.
