We don't know much about the next Mass Effect (aside from the fact that there will be one), but series executive producer Casey Hudson is hinting that it will be a pretty large departure from the previous trilogy.
At Bioware's panel today at PAX East, Hudson stated that the next game in the series will be "fresh and new."
"We are starting to get ready to develop another Mass Effect game and it's going to be a new thing," Hudson said. "We want to be able to give fans an opportunity to get back into the world with these things you've come to know and love about the Mass Effect experience, but start something fresh and new; a new way for you to explore the whole universe in Mass Effect."
Whether this means a new character, a new time period, or even a brand new region of the galaxy remains to be seen. Additionally, Hudson confirmed that the Mass Effect movie that Bioware is working on with Legendary Pictures is still happening.
On the lack of any recent updates, Hudon stated that "Hopefully it should be seen as a good thing. Because what we're looking at are, I think, the right things to make sure it's going to be great. It's not just going to be a movie. It's going to be really special."
