Confirmed! Stephen Colbert Will Have a Cameo in 'The Hobbit' Trilogy

Stephen Colbert is a surprisingly big Tolkien fan, going as far as owning a replica of Anduril, using The Lord of the Rings to explain the debt limit, and arguing with James Franco over who's the bigger fan. It looks like he's finally going to live out his dream of well, living in Tolkien's world, with a cameo appearance in The Hobbit trilogy.

A Hollywood Reporter source has confirmed that while Colbert will be shooting a scene, it won't be appearing in the first installment, An Unexpected Journey. Sadly then, it looks like we have quite a wait in front of us before we find out who exactly Colbert will be playing.

The second film, Desolation of Smaug, will hit theaters on December 13, 2013, with the third, There and Back Again, following on July 18, 2014.
