'Doctor Who' Series 8 Will Not be Split

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed that the next series of the show will not be split in half, and will instead air as one continuous season. This will break the pattern set by the previous two series, 6 and 7.

Moffat revealed the news at the BFI's 11th Doctor celebration event in London, stating simply, “There’ll be no split.”

“I’ve got the whole [of Series 8] in my head right now," he added.

Series 8 will begin filming later this month, and will air sometime in August 2014. In the meantime, Matt Smith's final episode, this year's Christmas Special, will air on Christmas day.
