It looks like the director of Moon and Source Code is getting ready to craft some war! Duncan Jones is finally kicking his sci-fi habit, and has signed on to direct Warcraft, the movie adaptation of the trilogy of RTS games and ridiculously popular MMO.
Legendary Pictures currently has the rights to the film, and after Inception, The Dark Knight, and the upcoming Pacific Rim, I couldn't think of a better studio to handle this. The new script will be penned by Charles Leavitt, writer of Blood Diamond.
The Hollywood Reporter has the report, and noted this is the first big step forward after Sam Raimi's departure presumably shelved the project. THR also reports that Legendary is fully committing to the project, with a $100+ million dollar budget in mind.
Overall, this is pretty awesome news. Legendary is definitely the right company to be tackling this project, and Duncan Jones is a choice I can get behind. I might have lost a little faith in the Blizzard brand after Diablo III, but this has definitely renewed my interest in all things Warcraft.
