Gearbox Announces a Brand New 'Homeworld' Game

Gearbox is officially the hero of the Homeworld fan community. The studio has announced that in addition to an HD remake of the first and second game, they have partnered with Blackbird Interactive to work on a brand new game in the series. Titled Shipbreakers, the game will be the first original title in the series since Gearbox acquired the rights in April.

Interestingly, Blackbird was previously working on a "spiritual successor" to Homeworld, which must've made the transition pretty easy.

The HD remakes are expected to arrive in 2014, no release date has been set for Shipbreakers.
