John Carpenter Wants to Make a 'Dead Space' Film

Whoever says video games are for kids and guys who will forever live in their mother’s basement obviously have no idea that John Carpenter, the mind behind such films as Escape from New York and The Thing, is a gamer himself. Carpenter has declared himself a fan of the Dead Space game franchise saying, “I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned shut down space ship and they have to start it up and something’s onboard. It’s just great stuff.”

Carpenter even helped with aspects of 2011's horror FPS F.E.A.R. 3. It makes sense that Carpenter would like to see this film come to life; he is a believer and an advocate that video games are an art-form.

He compared the games to the Alien film franchise but noted that there are differences that would make the modern audience happy.  Carpenter has said “I’d love to make Dead Space; I’ll tell you that right now, that one is ready to be made.”

I couldn’t agree more. Presumably his idea would be for live-action film as there is already an animated one. While it is still unclear if the will be a Dead Space 4 game there is plenty of inspiration should they decide to make the game franchise into a film one.
