Is Marvel's A.I.M. Terrorist Group Going to Make a Movie Appearance?

I feel like just about every piece of Marvel related news starts like this, but... SPOILERS SPOILERS. If a recent set of photos is to be believed, it seems like Marvel's infamous terrorist group, A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) will finally be making an appearance in the Cinematic Universe. Find out how below.

In a duo of photos grabbed by Reel Movie Nation, a sign with the AIM logo and name was spotted on the set of Iron Man 3.

This was later confirmed by On Location Vacation:

"One of our readers, A. K. Trujillo, told us, “The crowd was told to be quiet when shots were filmed outside, or else they would heighten security and ban spectators from watching. [There were] no big action scenes. All actors were in business suits or security uniforms. The director was heard yelling, “Action”, “Turn, Turn, Turn, Turn” and “Cut”.” Though the photos were taken from a distance, you can see a few extras in uniform and a decorated tree that indicates the scene is set during the holidays.

Lastly, check out the shirt worn by Tony Stark in the latest Iron Man trailer.

At this point, we can be pretty damn sure that A.I.M. plays some sort of role in the upcoming film. In the comics, A.I.M. is an evil organization run by a group of scientists whose goal is to overthrow the government.

So how does it connect to what the Marvel movies have been doing? Well A.I.M. started off as the scientific research division of Hydra, so there are some ties to Captain America right there. In addition, while their best known creation is probably M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), they were also partly responsible for the Cosmic Cube. While they didn't create the cube itself, they designed the device that contains it. Considering how much the Cosmic Cube factored into previous Marvel movies, this is probably the most likely connection.

We'll find out for sure when Iron Man hits theaters on May 3, 2013.
