'Mass Effect 4' is Happening, But What About Shepard?

In a recent interview with VG24/7, Bioware producer Fabrice Condominas has confirmed that the studio will continue to explore the Mass Effect universe. But will it star series protagonist Commander Shepard? As Condominas put it, "There is one thing we are absolutely sure of – there will be no more Shepard, and the trilogy is over."

According to Condominas, "we don't even know what kind of time frame we're going to be in." What Condominas and the Bioware team is sure of is that the next game will be "very, very different" in context.

This means that the next Mass Effect game will be decidedly less militaristic in tone than the original trilogy. Bioware is set on moving away from the lone soldier story in order to establish a new chapter in the franchise.

Since the next Mass Effect game is still in the planning stage, we Mass Effect fans will have to tide ourselves over with the new Omega DLC launching November 27.
