Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has finally begun filming, and Fox has released the official movie synopsis to boot. The eighth film in the iconic franchise picks up where the last left off.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes ended with Caesar (Andy Serkis) leading his army of super intelligent apes into the wilderness while a deadly virus began to make its way around the world.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes picks up ten years later after a large portion of the human race has been wiped out, with the apes are ready to take over. From the press release:
“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
Sherkis will once again lead the film, alongside co-stars Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbel, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, and Judy Greer. With Matt Reeves directing, I am expecting a great summer movie to watch next year.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is scheduled to be in theaters on May 23, 2014.
