If you were curious about what the heck Spike Lee's Oldby is going to look like (how can you not be?), a debut red band trailer is now available online. Lee's version brings in Josh Brolin as the man locked away (the remake ups the ante from 15 to 20 years), and also brings in Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Overall, it looks like a pretty significant departure from the original, with a much heavier focus on the "thriller" elements of the story. That's not necessarily a bad things, as Lee would have some major Cannes-winning shoes to fill if he wanted to put together a straight remake. As it stands, it might just be better for everyone (audiences especially), if Lee gives his version of the story some room to breathe.
Check out that trailer below (NSFW), Oldboy is heading to theaters on October 25.
