'XCOM: Enemy Unknown' Heading to iDevices, Firaxis Teases New Content [PAX]

Fans of XCOM (and soon-to-be-fans who pre-ordered BioShock Infinite) will be glad to know that Firaxisis has big plans for the franchise. The studio and its publisher, 2K Games, announced at PAX East today that the strategy game would be heading to the App Store this summer. Additionally, a short video teased an upcoming expansion or sequel.

The iPhone and iPad version of the game will be a "full" port of the PC/console version, and other than graphics and other visual elements, will be more or less the exact same game.

As for future XCOM installments, a short teaser showed a shot of the Council, complete with the all too familiar message: "Hello Commander." The Council warned of a "new threat" before the signal went to static.

That could mean anything from DLC to a full-blown expansion or sequel, so until we hear more, we can only speculate on what Firaxis is cooking up.
